Yeah. The Watch-centric books are okay to me. Not my favorite. But I do like them more than Rincewind and Twoflower.

Transcript - Discworld

I've read all the Discworld novels, and reread and liked several of them. I've never warmed up to Vimes. I'm sure he's an admirable guy and all, but everytime the narrative focuses on him, I'm just waiting for his scene to be over so we can move on to something more interesting.

SB my best friend loves him. I've never had the heart to say that I have zero interest in him.

I don't dislike him. I just find the magic-centric plots/characters more interesting.

as a die-hard Vimes stan, I'm wondering if anyone I know IRL wrote this lol

Agreed. I got into Discworld right before Thud! came out. Up until then I had only read Wyrd Sisters, Mort and A Thief of Time. And Good Omens if you want to count that. Thud! did absolutely nothing for me. I didn't make it far before DNFing.

Haven't read Pratchett since. Too much of a time commitment.

It could be worse. My introduction to Discworld was a brand new little book called Small Gods. I absolutely loved it and was so disappointed to discover that the rest of Discworld is totally different.

I think that's the beauty of Discworld.

I don't like the wizards at all (unless they're a small part of the stories, and I heavily dislike Rincewind) so I don't read those books, but I love Vimes a lot and am apathetic about Carrot.

My favourite book in the whole lot is Monstrous Regiment though, so feel free to disregard my opinion, haha.

I'm a Vimes disliker, so he's the worst part of my favourite book, Monstrous Regiment!

Honestly... when I read Discworld, the Watch books were not really my favorites. I get why people like them, but they were not my cup of tea.

iirc, Thud! was the last Discworld book I'd ever gotten and it was at that point, I realized I had fallen out of love with the series and to this day, I can't explain why or how.

My discworld group is... not ENTIRELY Vimes-centric, but he does tend to be one of the more favored characters, and I've got nothing against him, but I also don't CARE about him and I really dislike VetVimes as a ship-- at the most, I can see it as a one-sided thing, but yeah, like it really can be taken as a given that if you're a queer disc fan you must be a VetVimes enjoyer and it's not my biggest NOTP by a long shot, I just... I'd love to see other ships brought up half as much I guess. But, everyone I know in the fandom is a big fan of the city watch books and the overwhelming fandom opinion being that those are better books and Rincewind basically the worst character to follow means less love for Rincewind/Twoflower.
