I think Vtubers are stupid.

Look, I tried to get the appeal. Being charming professionally is a skill. So even if I think the overdesigned anime waifu/husbando avatars are cringe, surely these people are at least entertaining to watch? Funny or witty or...?

No way. I've never seen a Vtuber clip that was anything. Some rando just shells out for a rig, puts on a cutesy baby voice, and then babbles about whatever stupid shit while they play video games, and people give them money to keep doing it. It's simultaneously incredibly boring while also being annoying as all fuck.

I'd respect it more if it was acknowledged as being in the same ballpark as host cafes, where you pay to hang out with an attractive person and have them pay attention to you. This is transparently what's going on here, right?

Absolutely same. I cannot get into them at all. I honestly find them to be stupid. I've tried to watch sometimes and I can't find any appeal. A lot of them put on this Michelle Duggar-esque baby voice, and it makes my skin crawl. Plus, a lot of the time, their audience is full of weird creepy guys. No thanks. I won't watch them at all.

Yes? This is like going to a con and going 'you know those cosplayers you're taking pictures with aren't really those characters, right?' and everybody being like ... yeah?

You can think it's a dumb hobby - I don't see the appeal and the squeaky anime voices annoy the heck out of me too - but it's weird to act like everyone thinks it's real instead of everyone is playing along with the kayfabe.

I don't get it, either. I assume it's got something to do with how disconnected people feel from other people, how hard it is to make friends AND maintain friendships, and the the parasocial nature of being able to feel like you're part of a goofy friends group online without having to actually do much work for it. A little sad, but times are tough and whatever gets people through the day, I guess?

I just think it's funny that a bit ago, there was a huge outcry in my country by some Vtubers because some dumb dude rated Vtuber breasts and ...look, you people intentionally chose those avatars with huge scantily clad titties and paid extra for fucking jiggle physics. Getting sexualised is kinda on you. And no, this is not the same as regular women getting told they were "asking for it" because of what they are wearing. You chose a highly sexualised avatar intentionally because you know certain people will give you more money and attention. Being scandalised that what you intended to happen happened is a bit silly.

I love Superbat (Superman/Batman) but only as Batman bottoming. He makes a great "topping from the bottom" character. I also favor their iterations from the Justice League cartoon - at least, that's who I end up picturing when I read fanfic.

I'm so tired of being told I just need to take more vitamins any time I'm sick. No, vitamins aren't a miracle cure and they can't make up for the fact that my asthma and allergies make me highly susceptible to whatever bug is currently going around.
