I'm reading these from the bottom up today, which makes this the second one in a row that confuses me. Is not finding people who fit the part the whole point of the casting department? And what's up with the equation of big name actor with good acting/being right for a role?

Yeah, I'd say that big name actor being cast for their name is a prime cause of some terrible casting, rather than a good fit!
