Except this is an explictly anti Dean/Castiel, and implicitly anti-Castiel icon, which is why I raise a suspicious eyebrow at a vocal fan of both using it.

I don't think its anti-Castiel at all. Or rather it's just as implicitly anti-Dean.

How do you figure? Sam is odd man out with Dean/Castiel, so I always found it a pro-Wincest icon, which is of course, supportive of Dean.

Maybe it's a pro-Sam/Castiel icon? DID YOU THINK OF THAT, HUH? No, I did not think so.

Pretty much this is my answer.

Sam/Castiel is the answer to most, if not all, of life's problems.

IN FACT, I have decided that the epic love of SamnCas should pave the way to reconciliation between Heaven and Hell, as their shining example will finally convince God and Lucifer to kiss and make up, and share the joyous love of their pretty servant/vessel.

(This are all trufax and anyone who calls me delusional gets smited.)

Oh, that would be amazing! Sam/Castiel is a fairly new obsession of mine (as I am pretty new to SPN in general), but I love the Heaven and Hell reconciliation angle. AND the perfect ending for the series would be a huge momentous kiss between God and the devil. Meanwhile, Sam, Castiel and Dean can all ride off into the sunset together, like the odd couple but plus one.

Well, as a (sorta) Sam/Castiel shipper, I would use it to support my ideas. And, besides, just because someone is a wincester or doesn't like Dean/Castiel, it doesn't mean they are anti-Castiel. It's just not a very full-proof logical path you've followed.

I think the rest of us missed the mystical LJ Icon Rulebook over who can use icons and when.

Not involved in the fandom, but... if you ship both Dean/Sam and Dean/Castiel (and hell, even Sam/Castiel or a threesome or WHAT THE FUCK EVER), why does it forgo making a Wincest joke about Sam going "Dean is sleeping with CASTIEL, not ME? NOOOOOOO!" Having one half of one pairing "reacting badly" to the other pairing can definitely mean the person doing that is bashing Pairing B, but that definitely doesn't have to be the case.
