I can't stand when people tag Major Character Death just for when a character is turned into a vampire.

Oh shit that wouod annoy me too! I've never encountered it. Though honestly major character death is one I usually avoid.

I don't see that often but I've seen Temporary Character Death tagged as MCD. Annoys the hell out of me.

I read a fic where a character gets killed while her mind is being scanned to make an AI. The tag used is “partial character death.” I’m not sure if there’s a better one.

I guess I could see it if it was drawn-out and the character legitimately thought they were going to die and it took them a while to come to terms with being a vampire, but other than that, yeah, I agree.

Ao3 tags are worse than useless now, they are actively misleading most of the time. Too many authors are either treating them as part of the narrative, or using them as advertising to trick readers into reading their bullshit. "But if they could read it they might like it" attitudes are rife on Ao3, and the site refuses to deal with their problem.
