It's a tale. For children. Tales for children that are not moderately creepy just fail. I don't see what's so special or scary about this one. As someone who likes these books quite a lot, I LOL at the wank they generate (liek ZOMG their so deep the metaphors are soooo amazing! ill be over there smoking a pipe and stroking my chin while i reflect on it!)
