Well, anon, I won't tell you what you are and aren't allowed to do, but IDGI. I can see watching BAD shows purely for the pretty, but Criminal Minds is actually a pretty fucking entertaining show. The pretty is just bonus.

I get maybe watching it for the first time for the pretty, but there's SO much to the plot.
I can't imagine that being the only benefit you get out of it? (Though it is a benefit.)

*shrugs* I dunno why OP is embarrassed. I watch it for the pretty. And for the squee factor. I certainly don't watch it for any kind of realistic portrayal of FBI procedure. XD Even so, I think it's an entertaining show, if only for my own reaction to it.

(I call it the "Shemar Moore Show" and I know that there will be at least one image of him in a tight tee, maybe with a bulletproof vest on, in just about every episode. Hell, for the first few seasons, I was under the impression that he didn't know how to open a door without kicking it in, as he always just followed others into rooms or went through open walkways. Also? I ship Lynch/Garcia like it's my job. I just think they're far too cute for words, and I feel like imploding every time I get a little cookie of their fluffy love. Yes, I know, no one is allowed to ever be happy for long on these types of shows, but dammit, I'm going to enjoy it while I can!)

I just wish they'd stop puppy!kicking certain characters. Specifically Hotch and Reid. I mean, my gods... pick on someone else for cliffhangers!

Don't quote me on this, but I've read that on the scale of realistic portrayals, CM is actually one of the better shows out there, because the creator is an ex-cop or talks to people at the Bureau? I'm not sure.

I must say I never complain about their objectification of Shemar Moore. Helloooo Officer!

Oh, I don't doubt that it's one of the better ones, which makes me kind of sad in the office politics kind of way because (for instance) look at what they've done to Agent Morgan. He is supposed to be an "expert" on obsessional crimes... and yet, more often than not, he's more of the "let's kick down some doors and look pretty holding a gun" guy. Yeah, sure, he's also second in command under Hotch right now and has even replaced him for most of this past season in the chain of command, but still. I think it was in either the first or second episode where it had the bad guy say that he was just the muscle, and then in the next three seasons, the writers went and proved him right.

Which, all of that is why I don't watch it for the procedural. XD I watch it for the pretty! I mean, Shemar Moore, running around tackling people?! HELLO! And him in suits.... yum!
