I kind of see what you mean. I'd always imagined Damien Rice as an African American middle-aged crooner...and discovering that he was a white Irish bloke was a bit of a shock ^^; Talk about cognitive dissonance!

hehe. This made me laugh so much, but only cos I knew Damien Rice before he was famous... (Ireland is a small country, I guess)... I will have to listen to him again to see if I agree... XD

He has a very distinctive voice, so I know what you mean. There's no non-weird or cliche way to put it, but it's like his voice is more than human. Yes, I love it too. XD

I know what you mean. I was surprised when I first saw what he looked like too. To me he has the face of someone who is either in a boyband or sounds like Bright Eyes.

I know what was meant... but what I thought of immediately was my synesthesia.

I don't like looking at singers after I hear their voices sometimes, either. Adele's voice is dark and broad, Freddy Mercury's is silvery and almost metallic. Seeing pictures of them for the first time, especially Freddy, was shocking. They don't look like they should, with their voices those colors.

Yes, synesthesia's an actual condition. I'm not crazy :)
