As someone who is gay and doesn't really have a problem with "fag" as long as it's not actually being used as a slur, I gave the secret more of a double-take for looking almost like it was connecting him being a "fag" to him being "the product of a long line of incestuous brother/sister relationships," which is way more insulting IMO. I don't know if the two were supposed to be connected at all, though.

... I do not think I know enough fully straight people. 8| KIDDING, MOSTLY, but the people I joke around with and we use that word, etc, tend to be gay or bi, huh. I don't have a problem with my straight friends joining in, though, simply because... well, we're doing it right there, all the time. If they're using it in the same way/circumstance/usage we are I more see where they're coming from.

(This is less about someone going "HEY WHAT'S UP FAGS" or something, and more like saying someone is "fagging" over a series or someone is a "Rebofag" instead of Reborn fan, etc. Though now I'm sorta curious as to when "fag" started being used in place of "fan," and why. Huh.)

Ah, no, you're right! I'm sorry, I wasn't meaning to imply that, but I phrased it badly. More like, "personally, I don't even have a problem with that but this secret still rubbed me the wrong way." Because whether that word is offensive or not, man there's still some unfortunate implications in there.
