But...ha, as a fan of the book series...and even a slash writer myself...I don't think I could bring myself to shipping them. Though they have given us many opportunties.

I've never seen the show. But I've read the books (heck, All Creatures Great and Small was my favorite book for all of sixth grade) and I can definitely see it. Believe me, I can.

Firstly, yay All Creatures! Secondly, I've always thought that even though it's based on real people, the TV series in particular is distanced enough from reality for it not to really count as RPF/RPS (not that I personally have a problem with RPF/RPS, but I can see why some people do).

Thirdly, please please please write your ideas, there isn't enough All Creatures fic out there, let alone Tris/James

I say write what your muse gives to you, and considering it was a TV show based off a book series I think it's far enough to not be RPS. I've always been a squicky about RPF myself, but I'm starting to soften after reading a few amazing works and am now even playing a bit with my own.

Yes, and even the books are quite fictionalized - the corresponding people even had different names! I think you're a safe distance from RPF, anon.

I think they were my first slash ship. I was 11 and reading the books and shipping it like mad! I could never get into the show - no one looks the way I pictured them. They are all so old!

Yes my first slash paring! I remember typing "James Herriot gay" into a search engine and being really sad there were no results because I was convinced they were in love, that was probably about 10 years ago now, so glad I know know about slash now.

I remember reading "If Only They Could Talk" in school one day, there was this one scene that blew my mind omg.

More fic would be great op :)
