It was really stupid and completely my fault. I made a post in my journal listing all the things I liked about CofE. I have some hardcore Janto fans on my flist and they took offence to some of the things I said, saying I was "unsupportive" and "a traitor" because they felt like I was mocking them. I wasn't really, just a little. yes I probably should have just kept my mouth shut. They started defriending me in order to "protect themselves" and told other people to do the same. I didn't mind that much until my fic writing partner stopped speaking to me because she felt I wasn't as emotionally invested in the Jack/Ianto story we were writing as she was. I ended apologising to her because I really wanted to continue the fic we were working on and when I made the apology, the others friended me again so it was OK!

I know it seems stupid that this secret is secret but I get really paranoid about everything I post now. I don't want it to happen again.

this is more than likely really inappropriate but I just gotta LOL at their reaction. calling you a traitor over something so minor is just golden. having to protect yourself because somebody said --

fhdjaks you shouldn't have to worry about the things you post in your own journal. you need people that don't get butthurt over nothing so easily, people that accept that their ship is not the be all and end all of the fandom.

Dude, your friends' juvenile attitudes are completely not your fault. I think you need new friends.

I don't know about anybody else, but I would LOVE to see a list of all the things you liked about Children Of Earth. Such a list would be innovative and bordering on the avant-garde in this fandom, frankly.

See, I'm a huge Ianto fan (not even necessarily a Janto fan, I just loved him to pieces) and his death broke me, but it was more how he died that irritated me, not to mention CoE in general. I .. just didn't like it. It wasn't the show I got addicted to. It didn't feel like Torchwood at all.

That's really stupid. People shouldn't defriend other people over that shit. It's a pairing, not a lifestyle choice. Grow some perspective. (not you obvi, your friends)

I think they're in the wrong for taking such offense over something that, in the grand scheme of things, is actually pretty trivial. They need to grow up and listen to the MST3K mantra (which I just mentioned while commenting on another secret, oddly): "Just repeat to yourself, 'It's just a show: I should really just relax!"

You need to find people who won't act that way because they were really out of line.
