I really didn't know until RR press that'd they'd been that close all these years (I think it was EW who referred to them as being "phone-call-in-the-middle-of-the-night close), but holy shit, do I ADORE them now. I love RR and I think they were both brilliant in it, and I think Kate won her Oscar for the wrong movie (yeah, that's right!). So I definitely get it.

ITA that Kate won for the wrong movie. In my head, Kate beat Hilary Swank in 2004 for Eternal Sunshine and then won again for Revolutionary Road - it bugs me whenever people talk about how 'overblown' that performance was, because the very best moments of it were extraordinarily subtle ones - like the scene where she was smoking the cigarette in the garden against the tree.

I am still pissed Kate didn't win for Eternal Sunshine, but frankly by the time her sixth nom rolled around I just wanted her to *win*, the movie didn't matter!

hahaha no worries, I think most people who saw that movie just wanted to see them together again (other than the folks who read the book first) :D

I watched RR for a similar reason, but mostly to convince myself that Jack and Rose both lived to be 10 years older than they were in Titanic and were still together at that point. Yeah, RR's ending made me depressed for a week, but... it makes watching Titanic a lot easier for me now. :o

Really? I found the end of RR more depressing than Titanic. I mean sure Titanic was sad but at least they weren't being self-destructive, plus they ended up together in Titanic anyway (or at least in my interpretation they do!^^).

They're so great together. I bawled like a baby at the end of Rev. Road. >.

Have you seen their interview in Entertainment Weekly? I didn't even care for their characters in Titanic, but the actors are so cute together.

I totally thought of Revolutionary Road as an extension of Jack and Rose's relationship. Like if they both survived Titanic and went on in life, this was their life. I just couldn't disconnect the characters, but I like it that way.
