Funny, I feel the opposite because I don't think she can carry a tune even if she used a forklift.

But, yeah, her movies can be dull.

Agreed. I think she has an even, flat tone that I could see why some find charming, but it easily tires me with its lack of range or depth.

And, I think, she tends to be cast in the same role--almost a caricature of what I imagine her personality is like.

I keep hoping she'll surprise me and be outstanding (acting-wise), but...so far, not really. :\ Even though I do love Elf and (500) Days of Summer and think she is insanely adorable. Oh well. I enjoy denial.

yeah man! I loved her in Almost Famous (her tiny part brightened up every scene she was in, and that is a movie not short on brightening things) and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy too, but then I watched Tin Man, and she pretty much sleepwalked through it. disappointing. I haven't seen 500 days of summer yet, though.

She was great in 500 Days, and the film was great, but I can't tell if she has any range since she's basically been typecast as herself. I do find She & Him charming, though.

I don't know about her music but I feel like her work as an actress has largely been uninspiring mostly due to the fact that she keeps getting cast for the same damn role in every film.

I liked her best in, funnily enough, Failure To Launch. That whole buying a gun to shoot the bird plotline cracks me up every time.

She's one of those actresses that just never really seems to get parts that suit her. Or at least let her exercise all of her ability.

She's definitely the person that plays the same character every movie tbh, and her singing is rather subpar, but I adore her.

I honestly do not think she can act.
Although, she did a very good job in Manic.
I love her music!

The only purpose for her existence is so that I can refer to Katy Perry as "the poor man's Zooey Deschanel". The fact that Zooey herself is kind of bland in movies makes the insult even more delicious.

I think the only movie I really like her in was Elf.
Seriously. Fucking. Elf.
And I think that was also the only time I really enjoyed her singing. And I don't even celebrate Christmas or like Christmas tunes.

I don't think she can act at ALL. I think she REALLY ruined a lot of the potential Hitchhiker's and Tin Man had. Oh, world's blown up, whole life was a lie, eh? How to react? How about a BLANK STARE? Oh yeah, that works.

It's not the movies OP, it's her... but I LOVE her. Dammit, I love her and her music and her movies so much, even though she's the same in every one of them... :3

She's very pretty and has the loveliest blue eyes... but she's a terrible actress! I see maybe two facial expressions with her. The "I'm pretty and smiling!" and the "Look at me emoting through my big blue eyes by widening them! See that? I'm emoting!"

I haven't heard her singing.

i super agree. i love she & him!!! but i cringe whenever i watch her "acting". at her best, she's just watchable. she only gets roles because she's pretty.

Just like typical bombshells are in movies for "eye candy" she's manic pixie candy. It's tedious.
