I've personally never seen anything like that from them. I remember reading on her twitter that she had him go to a hotel room for a while while she practiced for a gig, so it seems like they both respect giving each other time for their art. And they seem to go out of their way to be together as much as they can, with neither dragging the other around.

I love these secrets.

Y'know... I know literally NOTHING about their relationship, but it kind of weirds me out how many people are obsessed with it and idealize it. Do you guys just like... not know any other celebrity couples with healthy, loving relationships or what? Is it just the Twitter thing? Because if that's it, let me tell you, Duff McKagan and his wife Susan Holmes McKagan are SO CUTE IT HURTS.

And I seem to have cleared out my Duff icons in my last icon upload. This must be remedied...

It depends on the couple and rather you like them on their own, ect. ect. As the OP of the secret, I adore them because they seem to add to each other's art and lives instead of take away from it. As an aspiring artist myself, most guys I've met aren't able to handle the fact that I have something in my life that needs that much attention. I'm sure male artists have the same problem, but Neil and Amanda really seem to inspire each other and make themselves better artists and people. And no, I'm not obsessed, I just hope to find something like this.

Man, there are sooooo many couples like that though!

Duff and Susan are my vote for cutest celebrity couple on Twitter because I think it's adorable how she constantly updates about projects of his that she clearly thinks are awesome. Duff doesn't update much but he sends her random little love notes and shit and it's just so, so sweet.

There are other couples who've had that kind of relationship, too, though most of the ones I'm more familiar with are not modern celebrities. My favourite one is James Joyce and his wife Nora. I will warn you before googling that one that what you will find is weirdly-fetishy graphically pornographic letters they wrote to each other. I also love Oscar Wilde with both his wife Constance and his friend and former lover Robbie. There is an artist whose name I do not know who spent much of his career just painting his lover, who was not even all that pretty, but the amount of care his art shows for her is gorgeous.

I've long since noticed that I am by no means the norm as far as relationships go, but it still puzzles me that so many people see their relationship as unusual and wind up with partners who DO NOT have that kind of respect for what they do and who they are. Every partner I've ever had has had that kind of relationship with me. And STILL DOES have that relationship with me, just as friends rather than lovers. And it's not because I'm "lucky." I just have never had any compulsion to let anyone into my life on that level who did not respect my need for space in work or play. I know it's not something that's easy to find, but I also think a lot of girls limit themselves too much to some kind of weird pre-written ideal, and then get too busy fulfilling "obligations" they never get around to living life in the places and ways that are truly who they are. When you live as who you are where you belong, you will find someone else who belongs there too and and wants to be there with you. And it might take a long time to iron out the kinks, but it's like... "If you build it, they will come." Build a life that's yours and not the property and product of overexpectant caretakers or schools or governments, and those people, friends and lovers both, who recognize your light will be drawn to it. It's really just that simple.

I agree with everything you said, but I hope you see that I do like other couples but they have to be my favorite. Not because they are popular at the moment or just because of twitter, but because I LIKE them. There are many other examples I could give of the kind of relationship I want, I chose them as one for this secret. Just because someone likes them doesn't mean they ignore all other great couples. My secret wasn't intended to offend anyone.

I can understand that, but don't judge every person who likes them as not knowing any other couples or just joining the trend. Heck, one of my biggest couple loves if John Lennon and Yoko Ono, despite all the problems they clearly had. Basically, I'm just looking for an artistic soulmate.

I love them both, and I'm happy for them, but I find it hard to love their relationship. Maybe because Amanda was always so pro-singleton, "I'm not going to live my life on one side of an ampersand", that it's kind of jarring to see her so...coupley with someone, especially since her past relationships with Ricky Wilson and Michael McQuilken were so low-key. =/

I know, right? They're so damned sweet, especially their messages on Twitter. I feel like such a stalker. :P
