I don't judge you for your drinking or anything, but nobody makes an alcoholic drink. The other people in their lives aren't responsible for making them worse by saying what they think about it.

This so hard, to both comments. In my (rather wide) experience, alcoholics (and other addicts) rarely sort themselves out without significant influence from others. Even if they do, concern from others is not a negative thing, no matter how it might make you feel. Do not be angry at others for your drinking. They do not ‘drive you to it’, it is always your decision and responsibility. Their commenting on it does not = you getting worse. It is your actions, not theirs, which are responsible.

I am not saying this to be mean. I’m saying this as someone who has had an addiction, and has used the exact same excuses. Trust me, the sooner you can be rid of them, the better for your life in general, for quitting, and getting your life on track. But mostly, good luck. Thinking about wanting to be better is better than thinking there isn't anything to improve; its a good first step.
