3. I think the real problem is that, compared to yaoi and het, there isn't really enough of yuri period in fanfiction.

So yes, there's probably more well-developed plotty yaoi fics or het fics, but that has more to do with the fact that there are more people writing yaoi and het, and less to do with yuri writers lacking creativity.

hee, that reminds me. I need to start work on the next prompt for [livejournal.com profile] 10lilies.

Not necessarily. I'd rather there be only four really interesting yuri fics than have there be 100+ mediocre ones. Quality over quantity, and all.

Well, you just go ahead and write one for us all then, cute little anony-chan. :D

Hey, hey. No need to get snarky all of a sudden. I'm just saying.

Sorry, but the fact remains that there being less plot-driven yuri fics has little to do with creativity levels in yuri writers and a lot to do with the fact that there is relatively little yuri fanfiction.

*Pretend like there's an "in" inbetween "yuri" and "fanfiction", okay?

You're right and I'm sorry that misinterpreted her post.

I think it greatly depends on the fandom you’re in, unfortunately because of being in the Digimon Fandom [where bad fics ran rampant at the time when I was youngin’ ] I came across certain yuri that had long really etched into my mind. Poorly written, plotless, and wherever I went, it turned out to be that way.

While I think there is some great yuri fictions or anime out there, it’s like trying to find a diamond among lumps of coal. I’ll admit this however, I have seen wonderful fics, but I want something that breaks the usual gender barriers, where the ever so pure girl you won’t get flute raped and go ILU afterwards despite all she went through. [/KNM manga reference. :( ]

I think before that happens, yuri fandom will have to have more popularity for fanfic writers in total, than the majority of yuri being idle pleasure of fanboys who just want to see hot lesbians kiss, and the side-shipping fans who want the girls to pair up so they are out of the way and not interfering in whatever popular yaoi pairing is the main focus (which, sadly, I've seen far too often in my fandom).

I have also had that happen in my fandom as well, since the yaoi fandom is quite a growth spur in comparsion to the yuri in it. I find the potential of yuri to be adorable, but not when it's just slapped on so the person's OTP [in this case, I'll use the example of Kratos/Yuan ] could be at peace.

What is worse, is often that the wife/fiancee's they had are often taken out of the very picture or completely turned into different individuals [ Anna didn't have a character to begin with since she never appeared, nor did Martel but at least you seen her body. ] just to 'abuse' these two people's true and immortal love.

It's really something that bothers me greatly.
