I agree. The friendship of Yamato and Taichi felt incredibly forced and fake to me. Maybe it's my Taichi bias, but Yamato never seemed to think of him anything but "dumb talentless wanna-be action hero". :/

I didn't think of this before the secret was made but honestly I couldn't agree more. Taichi and Yamato's friendship is an awesome thing but I think Taichi and Koushiro have always been closer. If my memory also serves me correctly aren't Taichi and Koushiro childhood friends along with Sora?

I do agree that they have a very strong friendship, but I never thought it was stronger than Taichi and Yamato's. To be fair, that might be because Taichi and Yamato's friendship was focused on a lot more, though.

Tai and Matt's friendship was very much the shonen adventure story kind of friendship: two alpha personalities that slash and cause rivalries, but they band together when teammwork is necessary and they save the world. Rivalry's still there at the end but it's more good-natured.

Izzy and Tai always worked better as genuine friends, not those who were forced together by end-of-the-world circumstances, because of their complementary personality types. (Of course take what I say with a grain of salt since I shipped Tai/Izzy since I was 15. Hee.)
