I'll squee with you! I absolutely love those books, must have read them about 50 times. <3 I cried CRIED so hard when I thought Seymour was dead. XP This book defined what vampires are for me.

[identity profile] kyuusei.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy shit, I loved those books. O_O But it's.. been so long I've pretty muchf orgotten most of them :(

[identity profile] switch-heart.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish there was a fandom for these books so bad. Sita was the definition for what a vampire should be for me.

Aughghghg this series! I was so in love with Christopher Pike once, I must have read every book my library had at least twice, and I still cringe to think about the extremely embarrassing fan mail I sent him when I was in middle school. I was never a fan of any other vampire series, but oh my God did I ever love Sita.

The ending still pisses me off, though. Ghghfdghfgdh Seymour.

[identity profile] dorknessrising.livejournal.com 2010-01-17 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I knoooooooow!

Seymour was like, The Character that made me feel good about being a nerd!

[identity profile] cantfindreverse.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to read theses solely for the author's name. *lame*

[identity profile] daniela-lynx.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS :'D

I was like "OMG Capitain Pike wrote books about VAMPIRES. How awesome is that?"

THIS

I actually had to read the name a couple times over to make sure I wasn't imagining it.

Christopher Pike secret! This makes me so nostalgic because I was a huge, huge, huge Pike fan. <3

Aaaaand now, I might have to reread this series. What a pity. :p

I love a lot of Christopher Pike books (Monster, anyone?) but the Last Vampire books are my favorites, hands down!

[identity profile] valenciapilgrim.livejournal.com 2010-01-17 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
I had to respond to this thread, because Monster, YES!!! If someone tied me down and tortured me until I chose I favorite Pike novel, I would choose Monster. But otherwise? Choosing would be impossible!

I don't acutally remember any specifics of The Last Vampire books too well, except that they were AWESOME and I thought I was going to die while waiting for each subsequent book to be released...which was pretty much the way I felt waiting for Pike to put out any new book.

Basically, as a life-long, dorktastic fan of reading for pleasure who always tries her best to make the majority of her reading fall into the "critically aclaimed" category...Yeah, I have to say that Christopher Pike will always be #1 in my heart. If people ask me IRL, I always say that George Orwell, Kurt Vonnegut, and Kazuo Ishiguro are my favorite authors. But if you were to measure the amount of pleasure that reading has given me, in hours and in intensity...Christopher Pike would win over everyone else *combined*. Sorry, Shakespeare *shrug*.

I started reading Christoper Pike when I was in 1st grade (THANK YOU, friend's older sister!). Now I am 29...and I am going to have to go to the library tomorrow and get a bunch of his books. This secret has stirred the smouldering embers of a passion long forgotten. Thank you anon, thank you. CHRISTOPHER PIKE 4EVA Y'ALL, WHOOO!!!!!!!!!

Monster and Weekend were my favorites.

I LOVED his books when I was a kid, but it's been at least 10 years since I read any of them.

You know they've been re-released as omnibuses right? I keep looking at the first volume and thinking about buying it, but then I don't. I'm not sure it could possibly live up to my memories of how awesome it was.

[identity profile] dorknessrising.livejournal.com 2010-01-17 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
I still own the original books, and started re-reading them to tune out Twilight. Nothing's changed. I'm fangirling Sita just as hard as I did then.

"I don't want to die!"

"Then you should have never been born."

Still my favorite line.

Oooh! I'll have to give those a try. I love Christopher Pike!

(Anonymous) 2010-01-17 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I read these back when they first came out, and thought they were an especially lame Anne Rice rip-off. (And I loved Christopher Pike.)

(Anonymous) 2010-01-17 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
How, exactly? The story, characters, and even the vampire characteristics are pretty radically different.

[identity profile] haku23.livejournal.com 2010-01-17 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh shit! I've read those books! : D Though how he always said that she got to a place in less than a minute annoyed me even as a kid ha ha.

What font is this?

(Anonymous) 2010-01-17 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
AvQuest. AKA The Dogma font.

Woah, I used to be a big fan of those when I was young (yeah, great series to read as a child, haha) - must re-read them, and then I can join in with the fandom!

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2010-01-17 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never read this series, but because of this secret I'm planning to start. I hope you're happy, OP. :|

[identity profile] pureaddiction.livejournal.com 2010-01-18 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved these books so hard. They are still some of my favourites and how I always think of vampires now.

OP, you are amazing!
