I just started watching and, yeah, that's the impression I get. I was like, uh, are the people SUPPOSED to all be caricatures? I mean his wife is cartoonishly evil, wtf. And Maybe Mercedes gets beter later on, but right now she's so I'm-in-your-face-for-exactly-one-line-per-scene-I-am-in, grr. And how is Finn's voice supposed to be so good, and hers (and the other two!) not so good? Finn is like the worst singer of the bunch! And Rachel si nothing special.

Same here! I've just gotten into the fandom, and already I'm turned off by the amount of apologism going on. I mean, I got a bad after-taste after the Pilot, I can't really believe anyone doesn't find the series at least a little problematic.

Just popping in to say that we exist! I don't much talk about Glee, though, because it delights me, but it's also one hell of a minefield to navigate re: issues. It's like the show wants so badly to do address specific issues, and then sort of gets halfway through before it loses energy, leaving it to wallow in the same pernicious memes as shows doing it in total ignorance. Alas!
