I think it's because the old game graphics were abstract enough that you could imagine him looking more or less however you wanted, and you fell for that image. Then AC comes out with a photorealistic version, and the "real" Cloud turns out to be different from your Cloud, and you're kind of put off by it.

So no... probably not a fetish, and I doubt you're alone there, either.

I like original FFVII Cloud better because he doesn't look like he's made of estrogen, moisturizer and KAWAII.

I can forgive the looks of someone like Kadaj as he was a new character, but I expected Cloud to actually look like a man if his looks were updated. Same with Reno before Square threw them both into the Bishiefier (Copyright of Gackt-TM).

Cloud was okay for me, but I'm glad to see that I'm not alone to think Reno shouldn't have been that pretty in Advent Children. I didn't imagine him like that at all.

Oh yeah. I didn't even picture him to be that young. I thought he'd look like he was in his late twenties, not like he just fell off the last high school bus. I mean good grief, comparing how he looks in Crisis Core and Advent Children--which is at least a nine year gap--he looks like he didn't age or change in the slightest. In fact, I think he looks a bit OLDER in Crisis Core.

I don't like what they did to his character, either. He wasn't that much of a comic relief in VII, just a sarcastic jerk. But a dangerous one, I never forgot that about him--but in AC it was like they were trying to make him a complete joke. Besides that, he talked to Tifa and Cloud as if they knew each other in high school or something. I'm sitting there thinking, "Uh, guys, you realize he was the one who blew up the Sector 7 pillar and murdered three of your comrades in addition to dozens of innocent civilians (besides trying to kill you on a regular basis afterwards), right? Hello?"

fffffff I could forgive the willowy character models, so long as the writing was adequate. It's pretty sad to say that Advent Children is one of the comparatively better written parts of the compilation too... :\

I can forgive it in Cloud's case because he was pretty enough to not only pass as a girl, but potentially so pretty as to cause someone to pass over Tifa and Aeris for him. Don't know if you noticed, but those two are some damn fine foxy ladies. Cloud being pretty is just sorta canon in my mind.

Reno was too pretty in Advent Children though. I'll agree with you there, no hesitation.

Yeah, that's true. I guess to some extent he had to look a bit pretty. I think the final result was a bit much though. I blame Nomura using Gackt as a character model all the friggin' time.

Aerith and Tifa are gorgeous, no question. But I have a soft spot for sweet and obnoxious Yuffie myself. :)

Gawd dammit, Reno. Put down the conditioner and go get a bag of chips or something, for pete's sake. Or get boozed up again like in Wutai. I don't care, just stop looking so pretty! >:(
