pyro is a great class to play just to be a dick. if you have the PC version, do yourself a favour and grind at the achievements until you get the backburner if you haven't already; while the axetinguisher is only passingly more useful than the default (it's a melee weapon for god's sakes) and the flaregun is basically worthless in 95% of situations, the backburner has basically no downside.

I don't know how people's teams don't initiate friendly fire votes without compression blast.

compression blast just doesn't come in handy much, at least not for me. i'm usually all by myself and too busy to save someone burning, and the only time i ever use it for combative purpouses is on for example lumberyard or any incarnation of well, because on a busy well server there's the occasional opportunity to push someone in the path of an oncoming train (and then get banned due to butthurt.)

I guess it depends a lot on the person's style. I don't actually play Pyro that much because last year I was voted "Most annoying Pyro '09" by the server I normally play on, and they'd generally rather have a Medic anyway. And I'd rather be a Medic.

Although occasionally if I get annoyed with the influx of bad bandwagon Demos thanks to the update, I'll go pyro just because it pisses them off that they can't charge at me without getting juggled, and they can't hit me with grenades without them getting shot back at them.

oh i love charging demomen. they make it so easy for me. i once hopped on a server that was mostly demomen and walked around as an uncloaked spy with the ambassador, and spent an hour murdering a bunch of motherfuckers trying to be macleod.

actually demomen in general tend to be pretty stupid. i love 'em. no matter what you do to them, you don't feel bad.

i once scored ten kills in one life as a sniper against a single person (plus two more on some random opportunity shots after he ragequit for a total of twelve.) there was this guy trying to stickybomb-jump his way across 2fort, except he kept fucking it up and instead of moving forward, he'd shoot straight up in the air. he kept trying, though, and eventually i decided to be a jackass. so i switched to sniper, waited until he detonated and launched himself into the air, then yelled "PULL!" into the microphone and shot him out of the sky.

i did it again another 4 times and got a domination against him. he flips the fuck out and starts screaming fucking hacker this and you aimbot user that. so he switched to sniper to try to get some revenge against me, only he was pitifully predictable and got his forehead ventilated 5 times before screaming vac vac boteban (not a typo) and quit in a huff.

Skeet Shooting with Demos. That's glorious.

The only times I've ever had anyone calling for me to get kicked/banned is when I was playing Engie and putting sentries in stupid/weird places. And considering that I wasn't actually anywhere near my sentry (I was elsewhere with my friend, who was a spy on the other team, trying to see how high we could stack people on top of my dispenser), it isn't nearly as cool sounding.

I really do not understand why nobody can grenade jump correctly. I think it's easier than rocket jumping.

ohhhh, the stories i could tell. there are quite a lot of butthurt little clan kids out there...

it's funny you mention fucking around as an engie 'cuz one of my favourite recent stories involved me doing just that. i was bored so i hopped on this random small-pop 2fort, mid: and there's like maybe 5, 6 guys either team. nobody's really doing anything constructive, red team is holding hands in our base and a third of blue team is setting up in our sewers instead of doing anything resembling an attack, so i decide to practice my combat engie tactics a bit. i work my way to the top of the blue team's spiral (no resistance of course) and leave a level 1 sentry and head downstairs. sentry takes a couple guys by surprise, third guy learns from his buddies' mistake and manages to destroy it.

which is fine, because i plan to head out the long stairwell, because i know from experience that most people don't know what "interception" means, and he'll be halfway down the spiral by the time i grab the case. so i leave another level 1 SG to cover my escape, on the little ledge above the steps, grab the case and leave. fucko #3 promptly gets murdered by the sentry gun. i take the case home and score the point... and am immediately kicked off the server. i noticed i wasn't actually banned, however, so i hop back on and ask why i was kicked. the response? "we think you're hacking but we can't be sure"
"how the fuck am i hacking?"
"you scored as an engineer, engies aren't designed for that"

... so i switch to heavy and promptly score the case twice, and say, "maybe if would try placing defenses in someplace other than my team's sewers you wouldn't have this problem."

See now, this is why I mostly futz around on servers full of my friends or friends of friends. That's just silly.

... At the same time it kind of makes me want to go pubbing and victimize some suckas with syringes. Considering people I know get pissed off about it, goofy clan strangers should be pretty hilarious.
