Some fans objectify people (of all sexes and genders), sure, but it is absolutely apples and oranges on a fandom-wide level because there is no cultural baggage associated with men as property, men as nothing but their fertility, men as nothing but their appearance. There is simply no analogy between the two, and, moreover, these are actors/characters, not husbands/boyfriends/friends. All you know is their appearance and their acting. I'm not going to gush about an actor's glowing personality. I do not know him. I may, however, have feelings about his delicately chiseled forearms.

Not anymore there's not. There's a hell of a lot of other cultural baggage associated with black men, but chattel isn't part of the modern stereotyping while it still is for women. The hyper-sexualization of black men is very different from the hyper-sexualization and objectification of women (one is about threat and fear, the other is about possession and domination), and is irrelevant to the point OP is trying to argue.

I'm not arguing that it's not in the past. My point is, it's a rather recent past, as history goes (at least in the U.S.), and while it's certainly not true that all black men now would feel this way (if any), I think the point is fair for me to bring up in light of your declaration that no man has ever been made to feel like property or valued solely for his virility.

You'll forgive me if--for the sake of brevity in a comment on fandom secrets--I did not launch into a detailed dissertation on a social issue that was entirely irrelevant and inapplicable to my point and the context of fandom (which is 99% about white and Asian dudes, anyway) and used a generalization which strictly speaking was not true if considering the entirety of western European and U.S. history. It was, like, three sentences. I'm aware that there is a history of slavery in the western world.
