I only place Basil first because he was the fictional hero of my childhood. I have immense fondness for Holmes, but that only came about in recent years. Nostalgia is very powerful.

What is is that interests you in languages and do you speak a second one?

It's philosophy of language that I really love; I've always found languages fascinating but at some point I began focusing less on the words and more on the abstract concepts behind them (yay metaphysics!).

I only speak one, though I've studied several. Similarly, I love art but can be described as having all the artistic talent of a potato :)
