It's just such an amazing movie! My sister and I drove to this tiny little theater an hour from our house to see it. I really didn't know/expect anything about it. I love that someone finally managed to make a compelling sci-fi movie without loads of stupid romance or some kind of alien invasion or something. Not that I don't love alien invasions sometimes...District 9 is another mind-blowing favorite of mine.
It would be great to see some Oscar love for it, but I get the feeling it's going to be ignored in favor of the big blockbusters as usual. Unfortunate really. I think it and D9 were both far superior to Avatar.

I have a huge-ass Matrix Reloaded poster right next to my bed, the Agent Smith one of course.

I didn't get to see it until my college brought it here last fall, but man, I will never complain about my school again. I hadn't been that happy with a sci-fi movie in years. Duncan Jones gets major kudos from me for life. I also loved District 9, and I really wish that that and Moon would obliterate Avatar's awards buzz.

*high five* :D I wish I had managed to add a Smith poster to my Matrix collection, but alas it never happened. I really do have great love for Smith, though.

2009 was an all around awesome year for sci-fi, I think. It will be a long time before I see something that wows me as much as Moon and D9 did. And to be fair, I more or less enjoyed Avatar as "Ok this is entertaining." But "best movie of the year omg going to revolutionize film making nothing else compares"? Not by a long shot. Not when it took a gajillion dollar budget and a thousand years of time to make it, and it still fell flat on the plot and character development.
D9 with it's ridiculously tiny budget and no-name actor and 95%+ real set made me feel an incredible amount of sympathy for aliens that basically look like giant bugs. Top that, Avatar.

*high five!* Awww, maybe try Ebay or something? I got mine on that Allposters.com site but it was ages ago. I honestly think Hugo Weaving as Smith is one of the things that really made those movies. Pretty much everyone in them was awesome though. It has been forever since I watched them. And speaking of Hugo Weaving, I'm so torn on whether I want to see "Wolfman" or not.
Nice icon, btw!
