Les Mis has a quite decent fandom, you know;) I adore the book (or, to be honest, part III-V. Les Amis are my favourite characters, something I have in common with most of the fandom), but the musical is what first brought me into it, and I've seen it close to 30 times now. I love them both! As for the movies...take the Valjean and Javert scenes from the 1978 movie and and substitute the parts related to Les Amis from 1982, and you almost have the perfect movie. 1998 and 2000 are not worth my time, and I haven't seen significant amounts of any of the others yet:)

Eccleston icon FTW!

I was familliar with the musical before I read the book too; my Mum was watching the Royal Albert Hall performance on PBS way back in like.. 1996 or something, so I sat quietly and watched with her. As I would have been five or six at the time, she loves telling the story about when I asked her what a 'prostitute' was after Fantine gets fired :P

Cliche as I'm sure it is, I'm really a Javert fan. He's just such a rich character, I can't help but be drawn to him!

p.s. I LOVE Eccleston! 10 was my first Doctor, but 9 will always have my affections :D

Haha, what did she tell you?

Javert is a very fascinating character, and I get irrationally angry at those who insist on labeling him as a villain. I can personally totally see where he's coming from.

I like Ten well enough, but there was never any doubt about Nine being my doctor:)

"Er..." she said "it's a lady who goes on dates with men for money"
"Okay!" I said, then promptly forgot all about it!

I definetly agree with you, and that's what makes him so... powerful? It's that he's NOT a villian; an antagonist, to be sure, but not a villian. he was only doing his job and following his convicitons, which usually is commended.

I can never decide which is MY Doctor... I think, if I'm being honest, I'm leaning towards 9 because of his crochety ways and that he's a little less... hypocritical than 10 (which was really the only problem I ever had with his character, and that's a fault of the writers, not really his own).
