HONESTLY. I AM NOT BUILT FOR THIS MUCH SNOW. IT'S LIKE THE FREAKIN' APOCALYPSE OUTSIDE. *headdesk*

They closed school TWO DAYS THIS WEEK. SERIOUSLY ? IS THAT EVEN LEGAL TO HAVE THAT KIND OF WEATHER ?

[identity profile] mind-in-flight.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Which part of Quebec do you hail from? *jealous for the school closures because she had to drag her ass to work in the MOTHEREFFIN' SNOWPOCALYPSE*

Also? Kirk/McCoy FTMFW!

Bas-Saint-Laurent, East.
No, it was my little brother that got it all. (That lucky bitch)
CEGEP, this amazing thing, never close down because of bad weather ! So I had to brace the elements in my JEEP (thankfully) and risk my life. AMAZING WEEK.

Awesome! I've got a bunch of family in Gaspe, and some in Mont-Joli just around the corner (whom I haven't seen/spoken to in aaaaaages). Hooray for four wheel drive Jeeps! I was stuck dealing with Ottawa's shitty public transport system. fail.

[identity profile] youkiddinright.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Mont-Joli ! I live 20 minutes from there ! You have french relatives ?
And, public transportation isn't that bad. At least you don't have to shove your way to your car. Or have snow to your knees when you want to get the ice of your windshield. Or having to deal with crazy people driving like... crazy people. That's a fail.

Unfortunately : small city equals no public transportation whatsoever.

[identity profile] mind-in-flight.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, tons of french relatives. My dad was an army brat and grew up on CFBs in places like Valcartier and St-Jean Sur Richelieu. My mother just cannot speak the language for the life of her, but I always did growing up.

Small cities are awesome for their lack of public transport. There is truly nothing more horrific than being packed like a sardine into a cramped, cold, muddy OC Transpo bus and having to stand for 45 minutes while the bus driver shouts at you in a barely-recognizable accent.

(I think we have enough in common for me to friend you, y/y? :D)

[identity profile] youkiddinright.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like that very much =3 !! Friending you !

But what you don't understand, is that there are no available transportation for people going to the CEGEP and the university (yes, Rimouski is a small city, but there's a university!) I have had the chance to convince my father to keep his old car when he bought his new one so that I would have a way to go to my classes ! But there are some unlucky folks who have to deal with the schedule of their parents - which can be really annoying because classes can start as early as 8 am and last until 6pm, as for some day you only have a two hours class at 1pm. So you have to stay there ALL DAY. ALL DAY. So people really really want public transportation.

[identity profile] mind-in-flight.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaaah, see THAT I can sympathize with. We had a public transport strike last year in the dead of winter and I was stuck dealing with my parent's driving schedule as well. It's very easy to lapse into madness when you spend eight extra hours on campus when you only have an hour and a half lecture. *nods* :)

Friended!

Oh god, I hurt everywhere ;_; I had to shove the snow out of our parking. IT TOOK ME 30 MINUTES. (and I only did 1/4 of it. SWEET LORD). I hate winter.

Yes, dealing with my parent's driving schedule would have killed me. Because 1, it sucks. 2, my mother can't remember a thing to save her life. I'd have to call her her 3 times a day to remember her when to come. 3, my father is always late. 4, the library is almost closed because of repairs. IT'D BE HELL.
