You're not disrespecting any ancient texts. What do people not get about the variations in canon? Arthurian Legend is one of the most fluid sort of universes of the ancient legends, doing something new with it -- isn't new.

Anyway, OT3 yes. I love the dynamic of Arthur/Gwen/Merlin. I think it actually leads very well to the dynamic of Arthur/Lancelot/Gwen in some of the older stories, because of the relationship between Arthur and Lancelot as close friends being close to the Arthur/Merlin that is in the show.

You may got your wish. If Fate/Stay Night turns Arthur into Arturia (making her bi...), I don't see why we can't have a gay!Arthur one. XD

I don't feel it's being disrespectful to the text. It's one of those true classics that's meant to be redone, changed and enjoyed. I'll admit though, my knowledge of the original text is constantly in the back of my mind reminding me that this happy, wonderful story is going to end in a really depressing manner.
