...You know, I think I saw a headline in the Australian today saying that they will be. Fighting* for gay marriage, I mean. I could be misinterpreting that though, as I was at someone's house and didn't get to read it before I was made to actually converse. Stupid conversing.

*by 'fighting', of course, they mean 'putting it on the agenda to win the election and then making it low priority if we get in'. I love politics.

I read that they'd be pushing for a relationship register as opposed to pushing for legitimate civil unions et al. Read that in The Oz yesterday.

I'm slightly more impressed with Labor this time round because they actually have policies that aren't strictly speaking carbon copies of Liberal ones, but my cynicism is getting the better of me again. *sighs*

Teehee! And dress them up in pretty clothes. :D

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. I hate headlines. They sound good but the article's always really disappointing.
Still, I suppose something's better than nothing. And if those opposing it can get used to 'something', maybe they won't oppose proper civil unions when the issue gets raised properly. Who knows.

I'd agree with you there, but my issue is that I don't think i'll be able to bring myself to vote for someone (Howard) who seems to think that mud-slinging non-stop is a way to discredit his opponent. Oh, and someone whose attitude to the ordinary voter is condescending, arrogant and dismissive. *simmers*

...erm. Sorry if I talked at you for a bit there. :P

Dance for me, my pretties! Mwahahaha!

This is all assuming Labor will push for civil unions if/when they take power. I haven't heard anything to suggest this will be the case. I might be wrong, but I'm just going on what I've heard.

Labor are looking like the lesser of two evils right now. I'm glad they're polling really well right now, because it's about fucking time they got their act together and became a proper party again, but they haven't convinced me completely. My issue with Federal Liberals is that I find them all really fucking creepy. *shivers* (I'm really rather left-wing, can't you tell? XD)

Hehe, I don't mind at all. :)

*cackles* Exactly. >:D
