I interpreted it as "godsdammit, Martha gets Rose's leftovers again!" which frankly isn't much better.

Oh, me too. I haven't even watched it yet, and I don't know if I can. I like both Martha and Mickey too much to watch them forced together for no apparent reason, especially because I also liked Tom. And despite all those rather reasonable complaints, there's still a part of me that goes "Yeah, because Martha just has to settle for Rose's sloppy seconds, right RTD? RIGHT?!"

Dayum. Is that all Mickey gets to be? Anyone he wound up with would then be getting "Rose's sloppy seconds." Nice.

Not at all. You'll notice I said I like BOTH of them too much to wish some silly, unexplained hook-up on them, and that only a part of me couldn't shake that feeling.

And if he had wound up with someone else - someone who didn't spend half her season jealous of Rose and in love with the man who was supposedly pining after Rose - then I wouldn't care that she ended up with someone who spent most of Rose's seasons in love with and pining after a selfish woman who no longer wanted him but didn't want him to move on either. Neither one of them should have to settle, which is what this feels like to me. It just bothers me even more with Martha because, despite her history - a history that she overcame and GREW from, she wasn't allowed to keep her sexy, kick-ass fiancee and was instead tied back into Rose's world and ex-boyfriends. Because in the end, for RTD, it's all about Rose and not what's best for Martha OR Mickey.
