I don't know who that is, but in my book Compilation is Extended Universe, not main Canon. Canon is just FF7, nothing more.

No. I don't care if you or anyone else likes Genesis, but I hate him more than any other character in the series, and I have plenty of reasons to hate him besides him being a HUGE retcon (which I don't see you denying). On top of his entire existence being unnecessary, I found nothing interesting or likeable about his character or his design. To me he's simply a pretentious Gackt avatar who contributed nothing to the series but his whiny attitude and more pointless plot holes. Also, canon =/= automatically awesome.

Some people don't like him, so in your own words, deal with it.

I hate him for the singular reason of tossing Seph off the deep end. I could go on a whole spiel about how it might have all ended up fine if he had just well enough alone. Though I still blame Lucrecia for the whole goddamn mess that is "The Events Surrounding Meteor." If he hadn't kicked Seph into the goddamn crazy pool, though...

You know, although Crisis Core is probably one of the better overall compilation titles, Genesis is without a doubt in my mind the stupidest villain. I even found the Tsviets more interesting than him. That's saying something considering I like to put DoC as far away from my mind as possible.

I'm normally a hardcore FF7 purist, but I actually agree - I really like Genesis.


Although I'm interpreting him as a deliberately lame villain who turns out to be pretty scary in the end, rather than a straight example of what he was trying to be, and I am going to remain in my self-parody bubble and not let it get burst, ever, because I like liking things.
