If it's your comm, why don't you enforce the rules? A passive-aggressive mod is worse than useless.

I think OP meant "my" comm figuratively.

Since she specified that this was a multi-fandom problem for her.

So she's probably not a mod at all eleventy billion comms where this happened.

This always seems to happen to me with rare pairings. I get all excited only to find it's really not what I'm looking for.

Ah, I hate when this happens. Although I don't mind threesomes generally, it's frustrating I'm looking forward to a fic about x/y and it turns out to be unwarned for x/y/x instead. D:

I totally agree. If there's one place you should be able to be unreservedly and openly OTP about your OTP, it's on the ship comm! I especially dislike it when there are OT3 comms in the fandom.

I agree so much. There are some threesomes I'll read, but even so, I want to be aware of what I'm reading going into it. Which is why I tend not to read fic that doesn't list the pairings, but it's sad that there's not much you can do when they just don't tell you. :\

*shrug* This sort of thing doesn't really bother me, but then, I tend to be pretty good at scrolling past things and hitting the back button. Just because it's not my OTP doesn't mean it can't be good.

As long as it's not SURPRISE THREESOME!!11 I'm fine with it, but I can understand why it bothers other people.

I grok how this can apply to many different fandoms.
It's unfortunate that when someone mentions this for a specific pairing/threesome, the debate tends to turn against them and everybody's like "You don't like the girl? Mysogynist!" or "You don't like Character Z in your X/Y fic? Well, you can't have X without Z, so too bad!".

Well, I would hope that that picture had nothing to do with threesomes. :S

I hate it when that happens to rare pairings. New fic pops up once in a blue moon and I get all giddy, only to discover halfway through that oh, popular character Z is gonna make an appearance and the fic is really all about him.

I've got no problem with threesomes, but I can definitely see how it's not your thing. And fics need to be labeled explicitly regarding the pairings they're about.

I'm... ambivalent about this. Yeah, the dynamics of a threesome are... very different to just a single pairing, but on the other hand, I HAVE posted an X/Y/Z fic to a comm for X/Y.

And I justified it because, well, a good part of it WAS X/Y, and also because... that threesome is RARE. Like, I know of two other people in the ENTIRE fandom that ship it, one of whom doesn't do any fanworks for it. And I think a part of me was hoping that I'd get people going, "...Whoa, never thought of that ship any more. That works!" (For what it's worth - both commentors said they loved the ship, but had never posted anything because they didn't know there were any fans for it.)

I don't know... I guess I'm on the fence about it. Some ships just aren't big enough to justify their own comms or anything.

Unless there are no warnings, or threesome fics take over a site dedicated to some rare-pair, I don't even see why this would be a problem.

I don't really empathize (since I prefer threesomes to twosomes more or less across the board), but I love the Sad Puppy and want to give him a hug.
