The only real hate between these fandoms is on internet message boards where guys furiously masturbate over which 'verse has bigger guns (currently it's Star Wars).

I really love this idea. Somehow, I think that picturing them as two women acknowledges that there are female SW/ST fans, not just real-life versions of Comic Book Guy. That probably makes no sense.

It happened for me.
For years, I hated on Star Trek because I thought I was supposed to as a huge Star Wars fan. Then came the film, and I gave it a chance because of Simon Pegg. It was a short road from there to The Original Series. Now I own a lightsaber and a home made Mirror!Kirk outfit. *considers using them together*

I'm a die-hard Trekkie with very little interest in Star Wars, but I don't get the rivalry/haterade. All that bothers me is when people confuse the two!

I'm honestly baffled to why there's so much hate in the first place. I love them both utterly, and they're just... you can't compare them. One of them is a classic Hero narrative, and the other is a constantly-evolving vehicle to show idealism through metaphor. They're both beautiful and fun and interesting, and they both take place in space. That's about it. Why set them at odds?
