I like all of the characters! I mean, while I don't get the popular pairing that much, I'm just happy there's a ton of fanart and fan activity regardless. I love the dynamics between Kida and Mikado the most, but there's still an ample amount of fanart of them if you know where to look.

I'm not personally involved in the fandom, but this show is fantastic. You can find just about anyone to like in here, although I think everyone is extremely likable. :>

Agreed - so far it seems like all of the characters manage to be interesting and likable, which is impressive considering the diversity.

Like many people replying to this, I think the current interactions between Kida and Mikado (and Anri) are fun to watch, and as the show and characters develop and more is known about their backstories I have a feeling this will become a lot clearer and they will gain more attention. But like someone said earlier, for now their just a bunch of high schoolers, which doesn't seem as interesting as many of the other characters. Just give it time.

It's interesting, because I think that because they're just high school students that it makes them interesting. They have their own personal flares, their own quirks and every day actions to them, to me... I don't know, I find that really interesting. To make characters that could seem very normal and life-like is incredibly hard as a story-writer. I personally thrive to do such with my own story ideas, I'm really impressed with how the characters are written.

With the 2 of them, it's the goofy, good-natured rivalry that's especially fun - the two have seemingly opposing personalities (reserved vs. outgoing, etc.) and do bicker a bit, but afterwards they immediately shrug it off. The show has done a great job at showing a really deep friendship despite the fact that they haven't actually seen each other in years, etc. The contrast with the other, more bizarre characters and situations just brings it out more.

I totally agree! It's really a wonderful show in being able to bring all of this together. Even without the Dollars or mention of gangs, I think the personalities are extremely solid and worth watching. I feel really overwhelmed my this show at times, because I KNOW there's a lot more behind the scenes but I want to keep myself from getting spoiled. I'm just so excited about it! I just want to know more about everyone, and every episode makes me love the characters even more. Episode 6 was fantastic with the Wagon Gang. Ahhhhh. ♥

Do be very careful - courtesy of this being based on just the first bit of a whole series of novels, there is information readily available that discusses things the show has only hinted at. It is unfortunately very, very easy to stumble across some major spoilers.
However, if you like the wagon gang, the manga is more or less at the same spot the show is, and does that whole scene in more detail. Specifically, it does a much darker (and more amusing) job of showing Erika and Walker getting answers. (In general the show and manga are pretty close so far, though a couple things are done differently. I don't know which one is truer to the original novel.)

Unfortunately, yeah. I sometimes feel I should stop looking at the pixiv tag at this point, because more netabare/spoiler images keep appearing. Some of them are rather vague, but others make it easy to figure out what it's supposed to represent. Then again, the show itself gives a couple of hints about what may happen or about certain characters as well.

I read a bit of the manga! I think the order of how events happen is a bit switched around, so I'm going to stick to the show and see how that unfolds first. :D
