1 - Thank you for crediting me, anon!
2 - Well, I think the point is that both Jeff and Annie complement each other. Jeff could teach Annie to loosen up a bit, to enjoy life a bit more. Annie makes Jeff think about stuff he doesn't care about, to be more responsible, etc. It's sort of a learning from each other relationship and that's why I like them so much.
3 - 18 year old overachievers ftw. I do hope you are not/never were addicted to pills, though.

Check out community_tv sometime, watch the bitterness directed at Britta and Slater, the whining, the "Annie is just like me so she should date Jeff". It's grating and they dominate every conversation by demanding more ship moments and making everything about their stupid little ship.

It's quite remarkable for a small fandom that's only existed for a few months.

I hate that there is already a ship war going on.

Actually, it's not exactly a ship war since very few people are willing to admit they like Britta without then saying that they like Annie/Jeff too, but a lot of the Annie/Jeff shippers will go on and on about how Britta is a liar who is a terrible, mean liar but Annie is perfect so she'll make Jeff stop being a douche.

No, I'm not saying that that isn't possible (I like both) just that it's okay to only ship Jeff/Annie, but if you only ship Jeff/Britta people get mad at you and ask you why you don't like both.

I like every character, in fact, I find myself adoring the show even in specific Jeff/Britta episodes (like last week's), which clearly indicates I'm not just watching for the ships. I know there are some bitter people against Britta but at first there was a reason, her character was SOO boring, she did nothing for me and for most of the audience (just see how in the last episode they even joked about it when Abed said half of the people who met Britta didn't like her). However they developed her character more and she's one of my favorites now. So much that I don't mind Jeff/Britta happening. I don't ship it, but I'm not gonna cry a river if it happens.

And about Slater... Well I did ship that. I'm actually sad they're probably breaking up soon.

I am not a heavy shipper in this fandom, but I cannot help but echo OP's sentiment that I would like my very own Joel McHale, to have and to hold, to dress in women's underwear and lock in my basement.
