You got quite a lot thrown at you for this, but tbh I agree with you. I've lied to people who've gotten me things I don't like because I'm too polite to say anything else. But I really think what you're saying is right. You don't have to be mean, but constructive criticism is always much more of a help to a person. People just need to learn to take criticism as it comes because it's always going to be there.

If you don't want criticism, you should just hide out at home, alone. Pretty much anything else is open to it.

If you don't want people to give you gifts because they're afraid they'll get it wrong, you should act like you are in this thread :)

Yeah, because I would clearly just eviscerate them, not give them concrit, like I've been saying. Way to draw a conclusion, fuckface.

Are you a human? Do you have human feelings?

Writing is putting yourself out there, it's shoving yourself on stage and preforming for people. Getting concrit can be a devastating experience. Every published author I've ever read talks about the emotionally wracking and painful experience of the red-pen stage with an editor. Getting a gift that you write for someone nitpicked is extremely harsh, especially because most people aren't going into it expecting concrit.

That's seriously like saying, "this is good, but it could've been better." A fine statement for a story someone just posts, but when it's a gift? Seriously? Why someone writes it for you? "hn, maybe you should've worked a little harder." If you responded to something I made for you like that, that would be the last give you got from me. Not out of bitterness, but I'd just be too afraid of being hurt again.

If you can't deal with concrit (and I do mean proper concrit, not a list of everything that's wrong with it) then you want to reconsider making any of your writing public. It is not my job (or anyone's, for that matter) to coddle the precious feelings of sparkly-poo the supersensitive writer.

Everything can always be better. If you don't realise that, you're an idiot.

You're precious, you really are.

Want an example? I just, like five minutes ago, finished knitting a shawl for my grandmother. It's pinned down and drying as we speak. You know what she's going to do when she gets it? She's going to look at it and she's going to point out where it could be better. She'll look at the scalloped edge and might say "hm, it's a bit uneven" or at the center line and say it's not quite even or at one of the nupps and say "oh that one's not quite right". And all the while, I will still know that she likes it, because she'll say that too. And you know what? Next time I knit? I'll do better. I'll pay attention to those things. Because someone made the time and took the effort to give me criticism. That's how it works.
If that's too much for your delicate sensibilities, just go away. Don't ever make or write anything ever again because people will just lie to you and you'll never improve or know what they really feel (and if you say "I don't want to improve", then you're more of an idiot than I thought).
