Yeah, no, I don't think so either. I went to a pre-screening of the movie and the director was there, and his comments really made me think it was a major labor of love, but definitely meant to be funny and absurd and out there. I mean, he invited people to sing along and did a high-pitched Sarah Brightman impressed. Not srs bzness.

I completely agree (about how the film shouldn't be taken seriously, not the stuff about the fandom, I'm not really into the online fandom so I wouldn't know.) It's just a ridiculous, weird, crazy movie that I pop in and sing along to every once in a while. I enjoy it, but it's just a fun, random thing to watch, not mind-blowing movie genius. It's a rock opera about organ repossession in the future, how could anyone take it seriously?
