No offense, anon, but are you a kid? Because if so then I really suggest talking to your parent or guardian and getting the assistance you need that way.

If you're an adult than you need to know there are a lot of low-income services out there for you. Some doctors will bill you later, enabling you to scrape up the money in the next few weeks. As for the perscription, the big companies like wal-mart and walgreens have a prescription discount program for generics. Check with them because I know they sell some anti-depressants for 4 dollars.

And my intention is NOT to sound harsh, but since you're on the internet I assume you do not live in a cardboard box, yes? And if you have the internet then you have a computer. You probably have a checking account, so you can always go into one of those Check Into Cash places and get yourself an easy 200 you can pay back in a few weeks. If you don't want to do that then remember that you have an internet bill. Probably a cable bill/cellphone bill as well... I think you know where I'm going with this.

Sometimes life is about choices. If I had the choice between medication that can stave off a disabling panic attack and an hour a day loling at F!S then I would pick the medicine.

I hope things get better for you, anon. Don't let despair get you down. If there is a will then there is a way to getting the help you need.

I'm an adult. I'm on a library computer and don't have a checking account. I don't have a job because I provide live-in care for my grandparents. I don't have a cell phone and we don't have cable. The only bill I have is car insurance.

That all said, I'll look into low-income services. The only thing I've been able to find locally so far is therapy w/no meds.

Check out local charities. There are some that will provide psychiatric services. I know that Catholic Charities will pay for you to see a psychiatrist, and I'm sure that there are others.

There is a Catholic hospital in town, I think. Thank you for the advice. I moved here from an area with even less in the way of resources and am not always sure where to look.

I don't know where you live, but religious organizations are always a good bet, even if you're personally not religious. I think that the United Way might be able to help, but I'm not 100% sure about that. And if you live near a university hospital, see if there are any studies you can participate in, since the university will cover all your medical expenses.

On the outside chance that you happened to live around Camden, NJ, I know of a free clinic here for the uninsured. (I don't think the doctors there will tend to prescribe Klonopin or any other benzos since they're not on the $4 lists at either Walmart or Target and I don't think there's any on hand at the moment, but at the least you could get care and there are some SSRIs on the list if that happens to be appropriate for you.)

Otherwise, if you live anywhere else in the US, the national 2-1-1 Call Center search (http://www.211.org/) is a directory of all the 211 call centers by state & region which can put you in touch with whoever you need to speak to in order to find out about low income health services in your area.
