I admittedly LOLed at one of the parodies, but I totally agree with the premise of this secret. Part of why so many people don't like Oda's stuff in the first place is it's not their pretty bishie glamour fest. That's how the series is. This moment was beautiful and hard hitting.

I don't think they're gonna make Luffy a different person though. He may have some angst and maybe become a little more wise, but I can't see his whole personality changing. I mean, he takes after Rodger, who's been through quite a bit of crap too, you know?

I lost a lot of my "save everybody" innocence when I lost a person close to me to cancer a few years back, and I had some hard times, but in the end I was still me. Luffy is Luffy too.
