If it helps any, try to consider that most of the people jumping on you are probably wanky trolls trying to start shit and make minority activists look like unfeeling jerks. You're not an evil person because you've started questioning your own worldviews and come to uncomfortable conclusions. There's nothing strange or contemptible about feeling upset about realizing that.

I'm sorry about the bad reaction, OP. A lot of people (myself included) have a bit of a hair-trigger, since we've seen so many people baaaawwwing over how discussions of racism are bad, because they make white feel guilty.

For what it's worth, while I know that questioning yourself can be painful, you'll be a better person for it. If more people were willing to take the time and examine their beliefs, the world wouldn't be in the shape it's in.

Fandom has actually made me question myself a lot as well, OP. But I think it's been a good thing because it's also caused me to learn a lot about myself.

I think it's much better to feel kinda crappy for a little while but then come away knowing more about yourself than to just go around being ignorant, if blissful.
