I think Michael cares a lot about his employees and about the company in general. That's why I've always been able to put up with how much of an ass he is. He's not malicious at all, he's just kind of an idiot.

That's exactly why I can't hate Michael. Yes, he's a clueless, childish idiot most of the time, but there are moments where he actually shows a vulnerable side to his character and THAT is what redeems him to me. When he talked about having kids, or about how Holly is his one true love and that he will be waiting for her no matter how long it takes... it's those little, surprisingly touching things he says or does, things that make him human and endearing.

I think he is a very well-written character and I don't get the hate that so many people seem to have for him.

Yes, this forever!

He really does definitely care and thinks they're a family. "Crossing the line" doesn't begin to describe it, and we've seen him be mean to Toby and stuff, but for the most part he's just super-awkward and wants everyone to be friends. Which is annoying and sad and very endearing.

I know, that's why I end up feeling sorry for him in the long run. I just hate it that he and my boss are so similar.

Michael is deeply, deeply flawed, but his intentions are good. If you're able to acknowledge his faults but still care about him, then... then, I dunno. Go you, I guess.

I want to hate him because of how similar he is with my boss. I don't hate him because I can see his flaws.

I haven't watched The Office in years but I don't think you should hate him. Awkward people don't deserve that. I think he's honestly really trying. since you can differentiate between him and your boss you know the difference in motivation.

I want to hate Michael, but I can't. I end up feeling for him because he's honestly trying.

Yeah I love him despite his failures.
