I...kind of see your point? I guess both of them have so many control issues, I have a hard time imagining either of them as submissive bottoms. But then, bottoms don't have to be submissive.

Also, all sex doesn't have to be pentrative, as you mentioned. Some of us prefer handjobs and blowjobs, though not most of the CM fandom, from what I've seen (sigh).

However, I think that if they did engage in penetrative sex it would be more difficult for Derek to "bottom" due to his past history of abuse (see: Profiler, Profiled). I'm not saying that they couldn't eventually get to that point but I don't believe it could happen right away, not after we saw how affected he still is by those memories.
