Don't be silly! Most fans would agree with you! At least, real fans, not people who only watched season one and then stopped because "OMG WHERE'S THE GORE".

Rika and Hanyuu are two of my favorite characters ever and the whole series has moved me to tears several times. Just listening to "Naraku no Hana" can kind of make me mist up. ;_;

The only thing that rivals it to me is Umineko, of course. At times Umineko (the game, at least) has made me bawl ... the bullying scenes and the child abuse in "Alliance". Extremely intense.

Nothing to be ashamed about, OP. Higurashi has some pretty deep themes, especially in season 2. Never give up, even when things are going horribly wrong, and always make sure to stick by your friends.

I think this series is a good example of what some other creators should strive for in terms of creativity. It has its bad moments but I thought most of it was engaging and interesting. (If it was less gory it could have gotten a bigger overall audience, but oh well.)

It has some pretty good themes as well in spite of all the horror going on.
