Eh, perhaps "troll" was too strong a word... but to me, this secret read as "I'm going to have an unpopular opinion just for the sake of it, and then complain about being unpopular."

I mean, seriously, it's one thing not to like the movie, but another entire to wish that the main character's father had been "brutally murdered." =/

She's pretty convincing about why she hates the movie though. If I had a sister who watched the same movie every freaking day, and I couldn't do anything about it, I'd probably end up with some deep, lingering irrational hatreds about it too. I don't think she has an unpopular opinion "for the sake of it."

Actually, I think I'd read that fanfic. Taking the villain and turning them into more than a cardboard character can be a really good thing, imho.

I don't read the OP as complaining at all. He/she just likes Ursula, and wants to know more about Ursula.

Plus I think they have something cool going with a darker version of the Disney story. The original is dark in a weird, unfulfilling 'and then the angels took her to heaven' way, but Ursula's underwater reign of terror sounds legitimately awesome. Especially if it means that Ariel gets to toughen up and kick her ass in the end.

The OP doesn't seem to like the Triton very much, so even if they've seen the movie tons of times I can understand why he/she would be cavalier with his name. I LOVED Beauty and the Beast and I spent ages 7-9 watching it but I really didn't like the clock, and it took a wikipedia search to remind me that his name is apparently Cogsworth.

Plus, the rest of the secret more than makes up for it. Where is the dystopian seaworld fic, OP?!? Now you have to write it!

But yeah, I can understand that it gets frustrating if you're forced to watch the same thing over and over again. And Ursula is easily one of my favorite Disney Villains, so at least I agree with you there :)

A dystopian sea world does sound interesting :D
