Huh, I wonder how long it'll be before this secret shows up at the main comm?

If it does, I mean.

But I understand that movie pairings go through these ups and downs unlike TV show pairings cause all you have is one movie to work with so far.

Although you should be happy that your OTP is a popular ship. Some of my OTPs barely have anything.

That's because last summer the main comm/a few special fans took the lj fanbase by the throat and roughly strangulated it to death, thence to carefully wring any remaining squee from its still-twitching body into the toilet before tossing the remains in a nearby incinerator.

Yeah, that seemed to be the, uh, general experience for quite a lot of people.

Myself included.

The Spock/Uhura ship deals with some very sensitive issues that were not dealt with very sensitively.

Oooh, that sucks.

Also it was nice back in the day to see people in that fandom that you had other fandoms in common with. Now, not so much.

Yeah, and the huge membership number vs. activity is confusing to me as well.

Wow. I think we are about as opposite as people can be. I absolutely lovescience fiction. I've watched most of the trek series. I find Spock/Uhura to be bland and uninspiring, though I don't mind that others ship them, and I boggle at the idea that ff.net is the place to find the best fic.

Edit: Though now that I've read the reason why ff.net is the better choice, day-um. OP, my sympathies are with you 100%.

FF.net is annoying but I can understand the OP on this. The thing about ff.net is that you have to sift through a lot of bad stuff to get to the good stuff but there is good stuff, and without all the added drama/wank of LJ comms.

(plus I think there is a lot of overlap between the two. and for someone who's sick of the bitchiness of fandom, ff.net is a better option)
