Pretentious? I'm not sure I have the same definition of that word as you.

But she is hypocritical, although in an ignorant way, I think; honestly, I thought her stupidity and ignorance was supposed to be part of her charm. It's what makes her funny. It works for me at least.

I've had this reaction to people disliking characters that I love (or disliking any character at all for reasons which I find repugnant), but I try to suppress it because it's just exhausting.

really? I mean, I love her too, but...come on, man. different folks for different folks, ya know?

(and totally aside from that, I love Rachel but she annoys the HELL out of me. The HELL out of me, she's spoiled and obnoxious and selfish and childish and I want to throttle her but then I remember "HEY HEY, don't I want to see female characters with flaws?" and then she'll grow a little bit and do something nice for somebody else or just get that stricken heartbroken look and I just wanna hold her close to me, but still I can understand why people wouldn't like her.)
