I read an article aaaaaaages ago about how yaoi presents relationships which have more in common with the stereotypical butch/femme lesbian relationship than any between two men in a manner that Japanese society finds totally acceptable (tying in to the old idea that girls "naturally grow out of" romantic affection for other girls as they grow up)...

...and I have since lost the link. (Anybody around here got it handy?)

It was an interesting way of answering the questions you've raised, OP, even if I really didn't like basically being told that I must only like Antique Bakery, FAKE, and Hollow Fusion because I've got internalized sexism up the wazoo.

In my case, I'm picky about what I read... but read stuff that's much more plot than porn in any case. It's more about the characters than the sex they're having, for me... where BL's concerned, anyway.

Yuri, on the other hand... well, uh, Maka-Maka (http://www.mangafox.com/manga/maka_maka/) is one of my favorite comics ever, because of the explicit sex just as much as the two gals doin' it!
