I choose to ignore it for the most part, but the fandom for this comic is so stupid. It definitely makes it hard to enjoy the comic sometimes.

I check for a new comic every couple days and all I see is Tessa's blog post. I don't see anything of the fandom. What are you talking about? Do they regularly launch DoS attacks against the site or something?

I don't generally find that other people's celebrations obstruct my private activities. It's not like a noisy party below your apartment in the middle of the night or something.

It's mostly the people I see on DeviantArt. The fan art and such.

It's the same thing as anyone in any fandom might be annoyed with, shippers, fangirls and the like. like I said, for the most part, I ignore the fandom and just enjoy the comic myself. But I don't really have anyone else to talk to about the comic and when I find the fandom utterly annoying, it's frustrating.

To each his own, sure, but it still irritates the hell outta me.

..... If that is enough to make you hate an entire fandom, I sincerely hope that you don't stray into stranger waters, because I suspect that they might give you a coronary.

Honestly, I would give an arm and a leg just to see the problems in my main fandoms reduced solely to that. It's not the poor quality of material that often makes a fandom unbearable -- but rather the obnoxious, elitist and goddamned entitled attitudes that some members come waltzing in with, this 'I am much better than others because of such-and-such', stated in many different forms. This secret being a very good case in point.

Contrary to popular belief, writing crappy fic isn't a mortal sin, just as it isn't a capital crime. Let people enjoy sub-standard fare if they want while you go searching for better things -- because no one's putting a pistol to your head and forcing you to read said fap-material, as far as I know.

And as for the 'ugly girls' remark.... now visual fandom expression should be limited only to stereotypically pretty people just because of your offended sensibilities, right? I have only this to say: get over yourself. Where's the cut-off point anyway, between what's attractive and what's not? You do realize what a subjective mine-field this is, with so many different standards of beauty?

I don't even know what fandom this is, but I'm jut sick of crap like this. Find yourself a niche and some people that make fanworks which you can stomach and be content with that, because you're not getting anything more out of the deal with that kind of attitude.

Oh boy. The way I see it, there are three "groups" in the fandom; the people on dA, those from /coq/, and those that follow the comic through Tessa's website. Obviously there is a lot of overlap between the groups, but I'm pretty sure you're talking about the part of the fandom that posts only on dA, not /coq/ or Tessa's site. And from that perspective, I can understand why you find them annoying; it's because they are. A lot of the art and cosplay are of minimal quality, but you're going to get that in EVERY fandom. If, however, you're bashing the /coq/ crowd... cry moar I guess because they seem like very lovely and talented people to me.

I... can kinda see it? When I first discovered the fandom, I was actually a little surprised by the amount of slashing and porn there was. (Surprised by porn on the internet? Nowai.) I felt a little guilty looking over it because in the back of my mind, I was thinking "Has Tessa seen this? What does she think?"

I suppose it can be a little unnerving when the creator of the source is so much... closer? Maybe?

Mind, I don't hate the fandom, but I can see the frustration that it might spawn.
