OP, I so feel you. I don't actually have anxiety issues irl, not anymore anyway. But in the internet and especially in fandom it is RIDICULOUS. I get so nervous and never post anything, even though I would love to talk about fandom with people and contribute something. This is why I don't even have a LJ-account.
There are several reasons to this: I fear getting rejected, ignored, etc. I fear I sound stupid and that I will just end up ashamed about everything I've said and done. (This is usually what happens when I delurk.) I fear sounding weird because English is not my native language. I fear I'm not good enough.
I've been a lurker for years, and it's eating me up that I can't find the courage to join the fun myself :(
But I'm kinda glad I'm clearly not the only one with these problems. I wish well for everyone who posted in this thread and hope that you'll get past these problems someday :)
