More a general response to 120 because I like the numbered responses of less busy days:

If you aren't comfortable with people knowing you're a girl, why do you have to tell them you're a gay guy? If you aren't comfortable enough with them for the (true) a/s/l why are you getting involved in personal stuff at all? Can't you just stick to fandom-related topics? Why not just say you aren't comfortable giving away *any* personal info and leave it at that. In general: WTH?

So, OP, create a new LJ, as a girl, and "join" your fandoms, gradually letting the false face fade away. Or just sockpuppet it, to see whether or not it works.

I agree with the "bitches" thing, but I assumed that OP was referring to actual slash female-gendered slash fangirls who present as gay guys online because they do it for the slash - which is not unheard of - not gay transmen, who are obviously also in fandom. I mean, there are female-bodied people who present as male online, and some of them do it because they are actually dudes, and some people do it because sometimes people can be appropriative jerks, and I assumed the OP was referring to the latter instance. But it's really shitty to make the assumption that female-bodied people who identify as male online are lying, so this was just a convoluted way of saying: yes, I agree with you :/

That's why I said possible =) It's impossible for us (or for the OP) to know if those are transmen or women and its wrong to assume they're just 'in it for the slash'.

For the record, I'm aware that there are transmen in fandom, and I don't judge their motives. This usually makes it all the more jarring, though, when someone you thought was FtM (or someone even going so far as to pretend to be male-bodied) suddenly goes, "Never mind, I'm actually a girl!" I've witnessed both sides of the equation, so I know pretending to be a dude is a pretty shitty thing.

And yeah, "bitches" was shitty. I have kind of a sailor mouth; sorry. :(

I totally understand the motivation behind wanting to protect yourself from people online, especially when you're new to LJ. That said, assuming you're now familiar with the fandom/s you're involved in, and assuming also that you might feel more comfortable sort of re-entering a fandom you already know, I would second the suggestion that you create a new username and identity more reflective of the truth. That could be hard if you have close fandom friends, though. I hope you work something out.

Why are you doing this? Why do you seem to dislike being female so much? Do you have actual gender issues, or are you just scared that you won’t be taken seriously?

Anyways, *hug*. I think it’s about time you came clean, even if you have to move away from your guy accounts and get new ones. Plus, if you don’t come clean, think of the harm you could be causing to actual trans people…
