Heh... You know, I've tinkered with the idea myself.

To be successful in fiction, all you have to do is find a sensitive, raw nerve (possibly something originating from childhood or adolescence) and yanking on that nerve, milking it for all it's worth. Alternatively, you could find a common fantasy and exploit it.

This is the driving force behind the success of:
• the Twilight Saga
• Ernest Hemmingway
• Neon Genesis Evangelion
• angsty Nine Inch Nails songs

Here, on Fandom!Secrets, people lay bare their insecurities, their fantasies, and their pain. It's ripe for the harvest.

Wow, that really squicks me. I don't know why, but a deliberate, calculated attempts to exploit people insecurities is unsettling to me.

Advertisers do it all the time.

For example:

People don't accept you!! Wear our clothes, though, and they will like you.
You are unattractive!! But if you use our cosmetics you will be.
The opposite sex ignores you!! Slather yourself in our foul-smelling cologne to change that.

And, in works of fiction:

You are angsty!! Here is a book character who is insecure and abused, just like you.
Being single sucks!! This cartoon person is living out your middle school romance fantasies and is very self-insertable.
Powerlessness is your curse!! Here is a story where people resembling those you resent are getting their comeuppance.

I'm telling you, it's happening already.

So... all I have to do is appeal to angry asexual feminists and slash fangirls with mpreg fetishes?

HOLY SHIT, why didn't anyone ever tell me it was this easy?!
